Position: Communications Intern

Reports to: Child and Youth Participation Officer

Location: Bangkok, Thailand

Duration: Six months

Grading: INTERN

The ECPAT International internship programme is designed to provide a valuable opportunity for serious and qualified candidates who have an awareness of ECPAT's work in promoting child protection against commercial sexual exploitation. Interns will have the opportunity to gain key knowledge and experience, and will be expected to dutifully carry out the tasks assigned to them under the responsibility of the designated supervisor(s).

The Communications Intern position is a hands-on and dynamic role, in which the intern will make meaningful contributions by helping ECPAT to amplify survivors’ voices and effectively convey information to internal and external audiences.

PRIMARY TASKS

The Intern will work with the Child and Youth Participation Officer to assist in the planning, implementation and follow-up of the Global Survivors Forum and support the Advocacy and Communications team in a range of other tasks. Specific tasks include:

· Collating and analysing results of national and regional consultations with survivors;

· Assisting with the logistics for the Forum, including accommodation, flights, visas;

· Responding to ad hoc queries from members and partners regarding the Forum;

· Assisting in preparation of communication materials and other documents for the Forum and other advocacy moments;

· Support in preparing press releases and responses to media enquiries;

· Other ad hoc tasks as may be required by the Advocacy and Communications team;

· Collaborate and contribute to the general work of ECPAT as a member of its team.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Passion and interest in child rights;

· Fluency in English;

· University degree in Communication, Media, Journalism, Politics, International Relations or related field. Advanced degree is desirable;

· Demonstrated experience in organising events, including managing logistics;

· Demonstrated experience with online platforms;

· Work experience with non-government organizations;

· Sound knowledge of MS Office applications;

· Strong attention to detail;

· Flexibility and the ability to work under tight deadlines and in a multicultural international environment will be a plus;

· Knowledge of Spanish, and/or French is a plus.

· Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written;

· Ability to multitask and work to tight deadlines;

· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.

INTERNSHIP CONDITIONS

A modest stipend of 10,000 Bath/month (around $280 USD) will be made available to the intern who is not sponsored by other organizations or institutions. All other costs related to the internship, i.e., travel, passport, visa or living costs in Bangkok, are to be borne by the intern or his/her sponsoring institution or organization.
