Project Officer, WASH
Reports to: Project Manager
Role of Incumbent:The project officer will support the successful implementation of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Interventions to contribute to maternal and child well being outcomes. S/he will guide and supervise implementation of WASH projects in both development and emergency situations, support development of staff and community capacity building in WASH, participate in mobilization of WASH resources and ensure implementation is done in close collaboration with Amref Health Africa staff, the local community, Local government and other relevant agencies.
Key Results Areas:
- Support the implementation of Water and sanitation and Hygiene projects to ensure quality, effectiveness and timely implementation.
- Participate in developing timely and accurate funding proposals in line with donor requirements and Amref Health Africa standards in collaboration with other sector specialists.
- Capacity building of staff and communities in programming and implementation of WASH programs.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual and end of program reports on Water and Sanitation and hygiene and ensure that the reports are prepared in a timely manner and in accordance with donors and Amref Health Africa standards.
- Support preparation and conducting training for water Users Associations to empower them to run their own water supply systems on a sustainable basis using FIETS approach.
- Prepare TORs for program implementation, surveys, evaluation and review evaluation reports
- Document and disseminate best practices on Water, sanitation and Hygiene programs
- Prepare budgets, work-plans, and reports and ensure that project budgets are effectively managed and timely development and implementation of quality quarterly project implementation plans
- Organize regular performance review meetings with the key project stakeholders and supervise the work of partner organizations
- Ensure adequate consultation and participation at all project stages while creating and coordinating community partnerships with other possible stakeholders (government, private sector, NGOs)
- Lead in the implémentation of Sanitation Innovative Approaches, like FIETS, PHASE, CASHE, CLTS, SanMark, PHAST among others
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Public health, Environmental health, Nursing Sciences, Social sciences or their equivalent. Masters in Public Health will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 2 years Significant experience in WASH and Public Health related projects at community level in line with either emergency/relief or development while managing community based water projects with evidence of successful implementation of similar projects
- Experience in project design, proposal writing, needs assessments, surveys, and information management.
- International NGO experience
