The Bureau for Institutional Reform and Democracy – BiRD is currently accepting applications for a Social Development expert – Category II as part of a Lot7 short-term mission in Thailand entitled “Strategic Engagement of CSOs in Achieving Thailand's Sustainable Development Goals“.
The global objective of the assignment is to provide recommendations to establish a mechanism in increasing participation of CSOs in implementing the country's SDGS that will contribute to Thailand's achievement of SDGs, leading to improved living conditions, reduced inequality and poverty.
The specific objective of the assignment is to assist the Chulalongkorn University Social Research Institute (CUSRI) to develop a strategic engagement framework for CSOs in implementing and monitoring Thailand's Sustainable Development Goals.
Expert 2: Social Development expert – Category II
Qualifications and skills
Advanced university degree (minimum Master's Degree) in fields relevant to development, certified by a Diploma (or equivalent professional experience of at least 6 years if candidate does not possess an advance university degree.);
S/he must possess facilitation and communication skills.
Excellent command of oral and written English.
Ability to prepare and present well-written analytical documents.
Computer literacy (minimum MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
General professional experience:
At least 3 years of experience in design/management/evaluation/formulation of different development modalities, especially supporting to civil society (e.g. grant project, capacity development, direct support to networks, facilitation of policy dialogue) in different thematic such as social, environment, gender and multiple sector.
At least 2 years in organising and facilitating consultation sessions with multi stakeholders dialogue including CSOs, academic, think tank organisations and authorities.
Specific professional experience:
Minimum 1 relevant experience in development projects in ASEAN countries.
Minimum 1 relevant experience of development issues and context and CSOs institutional framework in Thailand.
Minimum 1 relevant experience of government policy or planning agencies.
Thai language skills is an asset.
It is foreseen that the duration of the assignment will fall within January to April. The starting date is tentatively foreseen on January 2017.The field mission is anticipated to be completed by the end of July 2017.
The location of the mission is mainly Bangkok, Thailand.
