War Child Holland is starting a refugee response programme in Uganda. Focus of the programme will be on Psycho Social Support possibly combined with Child Protection and Education.

Your challenge

Programme management

You are responsible for overall programme and grant management. You lead the development of new programs and you provide technical assistance to the different projects. You develop and implement strategies with program partner organizations.

Fundraising

You develop and implement sustainable strategies with donor agencies. You provide oversight in the management and development of key in-country donor relationships.

Representation & networking

You develop and maintain relationships with local government, UN agencies, other NGOs; donors and communities, among others through representing War Child in coordination platforms and participating in fundraising and representation activities.

Human resource management

You manage the programme department staff, you are a member of the Country Management Team, and you report to the Country Director.

In a later stage, the position could include regional tasks in the geographical area of Burundi, Uganda, DRC and South Sudan.

Yourprofile

Essential:

  • Post-graduate degree in International Development, Child Protection, Psychology, Education, Social Sciences or equivalent demonstrable experience in relevant fields (social work, community development)

  • Minimum five years senior management experience of development programs with leadership responsibilities

  • A successful track record in initiating, cultivating and securing support from a range of institutional and government donor agencies

  • Strong diplomacy skills; ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with partners, donors and other stakeholders in a sensitive environment

  • Experience of monitoring and evaluation methodologies, tools and systems (participatory methodologies)

  • Excellent English writing ability and verbal skills for project proposals, reports and communications

  • Affinity with WCH’s mandate

Desirable:

  • Strong technical skills in psycho social support (PSS), or a specialization in Child Protection or Education

  • Knowledge of Uganda and of Great Lakes Region dynamics (economic and socio-political context);
