A. General Information
POST TITLE: Intern
SECTOR: Human Resources Management
DUTY STATION:Bangkok, Thailand, Asia and the Pacific Regional Office
B. Purpose
The UNFPA Internship is intended to provide on-the-job training for young professionals who wish to obtain practical experience in development assistance. It gives them an opportunity to acquire professional knowledge and to use his/her skills and abilities and to contribute to the work of the office to the best of his/her abilities.
C. Supervision
The Intern reports to the Human Resources Strategic Partner (HRSP) for Asia and Pacific Region (APRO). This post works in close collaboration with the Regional Team and Countries Offices (CO) and with the Division for Human Resources at Headquarters.
D. Scope of work
Support knowledge building and knowledge sharing:
- Assist the HRSP to build HR capacity in the Region;
- Foster collaboration and facilitate capacity building and knowledge sharing in DHR; facilitate information sharing between HR Strategic Partnering Branch and other DHR units including coordination of the DHR Communities of Practice and weekly blue jeans meetings;
- Put in place proper structures to for learning in the office;
Support sourcing of talent:
· Assist the HRSP to develop and explore partnerships with Regional/CO level institutions including new media and other entities;
· Identify and nurture sources of talent;
Support Establishment of governing structure
- Support the HRSP in data collection, and establishment of Regional Compliance Review Board (CRB);
Perform any other duties as may be directed by the HR Strategic Partner.

F. Qualifications and Experience:
- Postgraduate degree Student in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Training, Organizational Development, Public Administration, Law, International Development or other relevant social sciences.
- Strong interest in human resources management and prior experience in working in an office or as an intern in some aspects of human resources management desirable.
- Fluency in English, with good communication skills: excellent listening skills and empathy, ability to write clearly.
- Computer literate
- Integrity: exercising the appropriate discretion when working with confidential and sensitive matters and information
G. Background information
The HR Strategic Partner (HRSP) function facilitates the identification and meeting of Human Resource needs and objectives of the organization in the Region / HQ including supporting effective implementation of the Human Resources aspects of the UNFPA Strategic Plan and Business Model. The HRSP function drives the alignment of HR Strategic initiatives, as detailed in the HR Strategy, with Regional / HQ business needs, guiding management in applying HR policies and practices effectively. The HRSP function empowers clients to provide input to HR policy and practices in order to best meet the strategic needs of the Region / HQ. The HRSP function drives HR strategic initiatives with strong communication skills, coaching and influencing, and offers thought-leadership regarding organization / people related strategy and execution.

Financial Aspects
Interns do not receive a salary or any other form of remuneration from UNFPA. The costs associated with an intern's participation in the programme must be assumed either by the nominating institution, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students, or by the students themselves, who will have to meet living expenses as well as make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and other requirements. In addition, applicants must have medical insurance for the duration of the internship. Proof of insurance will need to be submitted before the internship begins.
