This post is responsible for supporting theRegional WASHsection through providing a range of procedural, administrative, and operational support in developing, implementing, executing and monitoring their regional and country office programme and management plan including support to research and knowledge management, ensuring effective and timely delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations.
Major Responsibilities
1. Support to programme development, planning and execution
Research, analyze, verify, synthesize and compile qualitative and quantitative data and information from a variety of sources on subject matters relevant to the work of the section to facilitate preparation of reports, working papers, and presentations.Draft project documents, work plans, budgets, proposals on implementation arrangements.Carry out transactions in VISION ensuring programme results, activities and programme coding are as per annual work plans make amendments and alterations as per section revisions when necessary.Support management of consultancies contract and Long-Term Agreements to facilitate delivery of specific short-term delivery of services across the region.Considering focus on cross-sectoral work, and in consultation with the supervisor, support other programme areas, or undertake joint tasks with other programme area staff.2. Support to monitoring and reporting of programme results
Prepare monitoring and reporting information for supervisor on agreed performance indicators to drive more efficient management and accountability for results.Monitor budgets and financial expenditures of section, ensuring compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations, keeping supervisor informed and advised on actions for decision/follow up.In support to Section in reviewing and preparing updates on work plan progress in relevant reporting systemProvide trainings to colleagues on use of InSight for monitoring and reporting purposes, if necessary.Analyze data made available through different sources including but not limited to UNICEF Insights and other e-tools in supporting quality assurance monitoring of UNICEF country programme annual progress toward results. Maintain updated data monitoring system and ready-to-use fact sheets of key indicators.3. Support in resource mobilization
Preparing reports pertaining to donor and periodic financial reports for the purpose of optimizing use of programme funds by country offices.Carry out transactions in VISION pertaining to grants for his/her section such as registering grant allotments and tracking expiring programme grants.4. Support in knowledge Management and capacity building
Support knowledge development based on best practices/lesson learnt, capacity building and capacity development activities related to performance monitoring, programme development, and related internal UNICEF systems/tools by preparing training materials and participating on exercises pertaining to program processes and procedures. This includes support activities on communication for development (C4D) and support programming and advocacy activities request by country offices in the region.build a repository of subject matter information, including articles, presentations, guidance/ concept notes, reports, and documents. Ensure that this contributes to the knowledge of UNICEF WASH related staff across the region.Overall support to developing emergency situations5. Perform other administrative and financial tasks, as assigned.
To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…
Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the work of the organization. University degree in social science and/or business administration is preferable. Minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible administrative or clerical work experience in supporting programme management /implementation is required.Experience in research, knowledge management, desirable. Familiarity with and basic knowledge of the key thematic areas of UNICEF work.High fluency in English (verbal and written) and in the local language of the duty station required.Relevant work experience in UN agencies or organizations is an advantage.Strong skills in administrative and financial management.Good organizational, analytical, negotiation, interpersonal and problem solving skills.Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and execute ideas.Strong skills in researching and research writing, an asset.Ability to handle and complete multiple tasks within deadlines with minimum supervision preferredTact, discretion, self-starter and good judgment.Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously in an international multicultural environment.Proven proficiency and good knowledge of computer applications, including data management related.Meet UNICEF Core Values and Competencies for level of the position: Commitment, Diversity &Inclusion, Integrity, Communication, Working with People and Drive for Results.How to apply:
