Position title: Development Coordinator, Southeast Asia

Summary of position
The purpose of the Development Coordinator position is to assist in the identification and development of grant proposals (including the creation of logframes), coordination and composition of grant reports, and communication with funders. This person will work closely with the Development Team based in Washington, D.C. and serve as their Southeast Asia liaison. The Development Coordinator will formally report to the Development Manager, based in Washington D.C.
Roles and responsibilities
- Write compelling grant reports for funders and assist directors with the development of fundraising proposals
- Track funder requirements and work with staff to ensure their timely completion
- Update grant progress and record communication with funders in a Salesforce database
- Work with the Finance Teams in Chiang Mai, Yangon, and Washington, D.C. to prepare timely financial reports to funders
- Ensure key staff and relevant partners have a clear understanding of grant requirements and expectations (partially achieved through participation in staff onboarding process)
- Identify potential funding opportunities aligned with organizational and programmatic priorities
- Coordinate logistics for meetings between funders and staff members
- Draft content based on updates from staff to be sent to major donors and foundation contacts
- Assist with the development of Asia-specific development campaigns (ex: scholarship funds, building-specific fundraising, etc), when necessary
- Work with Directors and Development Team to coordinate major donor tours or other development-related trips
- Teach small grant writing
- Consult with staff and EarthRights School alumni on an as-needed basis in relation to fundraising and grant writing
Required Skills and Experience
- Professional-level English writing skills are mandatory
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Google platform
- Experience writing compelling and engaging content for funders and major donors
- Experience writing grant reports for large, complex grants
- Experience managing relationships with funders
- Background in environment/human rights and/or SEA context
- Ability to synthesize disparate information from a variety of sources
- Skilled in organizing and categorizing data and information
- Ability to effectively communicate with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Patience and a sense of humor
- Self-motivated and highly responsible
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and/or at least 2 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year living and working in a Southeast Asian country
- Ability to speak or willingness to learn Burmese and/or Thai
- Quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills
- Experience with Salesforce or other CRM software
- Experience working in the non-profit sector
