Position: Communications and Social Media Intern
Reports to: Head of Communication
Location: Bangkok, Thailand
Duration: Six months
Grading: INTERN
The ECPAT International internship programme is designed to provide a valuable opportunity for serious and qualified candidates who have an awareness of ECPAT's work in promoting child protection against sexual exploitation. Interns will have the opportunity to gain key knowledge and experience, and will be expected to dutifully carry out the tasks assigned to them under the responsibility of the designated supervisor(s).
The Communications Intern position is a hands-on position, in which the intern will make meaningful contributions by helping ECPAT effectively convey information to internal and external audiences by preparing and producing messages and publications.
PRIMARY TASKS
· Day to day coordination in the process of revamping the ECPAT corporate website, liaising with web developers/suppliers, helping to draft web architecture and drafting content for the new site;
· Assist in development of a social media policy for the organization in consultation with other staff and senior management;
· Proactively develop new content and materials for use in ECPAT’s external communication, e.g. website, social media, presentations;
· Be a part of raising the engagement on ECPAT’s social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn);
· Copyedit and proofread ECPAT publications and newsletters;
· Monitor media landscape and breaking news stories related to the sexual exploitation of children (SEC);
· Daily screening of incoming communication to ECPAT’s general email account, set out appropriate actions for responses and/or follow up for timely responses;
· Collaborate and contribute to the general work of ECPAT as a member of its team.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Passion and interest in child rights;
· Fluency in English;
· Advanced university degree in Communication, Media, Journalism, Politics, International Relations or related field;
· Passion and interest in social media;
· Knowledge of software such as Photoshop and Premiere would be an advantage;
· Strong attention to detail;
· Flexibility and the ability to work under tight deadlines and in a multicultural international environment will be a plus;
· Knowledge of Spanish, Russian and/or French is a plus.
INTERNSHIP CONDITIONS
A modest stipend of 10,000 Bath/month (around USD 300) will be made available to the intern who is not sponsored by other organizations or institutions. All other costs related to the internship, i.e., travel, passport, visa or living costs in Bangkok, are to be borne by the intern or his/her sponsoring institution or organization.
