Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) is currently inviting womenfrom Asia and Pacific Island countries with relevant experience and skills to apply for programme vacancies. This is an exciting opportunity that would allow the successful applicants to be part of a strong movement of women to advance women’s human rights and Development Justice.

APWLD is a regional network of women’s organisations and activists in Asia Pacific, committed to advancing women’s rights and advancing a more equitable, just and sustainable world. APWLD’s members are drawn from 27 countries and the secretariat is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. To complement our existing team, we are particularly interested in applicants with experience of analysis and organising around political economy of development.

The successful candidates will be part of coordinating APWLD’s work. She will work closely with APWLD membership, particularly the organising committees responsible for relevant programmes. The position will report directly to the Regional Coordinator of APWLD.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  1. Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of women’s human rights and Development Justice in Asia Pacific ;
  2. A degree in economics, social sciences; law, human rights, or women’s studies
  3. Knowledge of human rights, development and climate issues in Asia Pacific;
  4. Knowledge of international and regional inter-governmental mechanisms and instruments;
  5. In-depth understanding of the political, economic and socio-cultural environments in the region and the way they impact women’s human rights;
  6. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in development work and women’s rights at the national or regional level, with a demonstrated focus on political economy of women’s human rights;
  7. High level project management skills including programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation;
  8. Qualitative research skills and a capacity to analyse and critique economic and social policies;
  9. Excellent command of English language, both oral and written and demonstrated ability to write for movements as well as program reports and project proposals;
  10. Good interpersonal skills, with ability to network in a multi-cultural environment and to develop strong professional relationships with members and other stakeholders;
  11. Proficient computer skills;
  12. Must be able to travel overseas as required.

RemunerationSalary range will be dependent on the scale of the appointment which commences at THB 27,600 per month for a Programme Associate position; and at THB 51,700 per month for a Programme Officer position. Other benefits include contributions to employment pension fund; housing allowance, education allowance for children, 13th month salary and relocation allowances for staff required to re-locate to Chiang Mai.

A probationary period of four months applies.
