UNICEF Thailand is seeking an individual consultant to provide editing/copyediting support for the English language version of communication materials such as press releases, human interest stories-articles, UNICEF publications, etc.
Work Assignment:
In support of the Communication section planned activities, the consultant will undertake the following work assignments:
- Undertake overall copyediting of the English-language document to ensure accuracy of spelling and grammar;
- Ensure consistency of writing style throughout the document;
- Ensure consistency and logical flow of ideas and arguments throughout the document;
- Employ appropriate referencing styles if required;
- Identify and flag areas lacking clarity for correction/improvement;
- Identify potential redundancies that can be removed;
- Suggest ways text can be presented in a format more appealing/usable to the reader.
Estimated Duration of Contract: 11.5 months (with possibility of extension)
The consultant will work for approximately no more than 80 hours per month. Payment will be made at the end of the month based on the number of actual working hours and submission of satisfactory deliverables.
Qualifications or Specialized Knowledge/Experience Required:
- Outstanding written and spoken English
- Minimum of 6 years of professional work experience in writing/editing English-language news stories, human-interest stories, reports and publications
- Prior work experience with UNICEF and familiarity with UNICEF style, quality, and brand guidelines will be a plus
- Familiar with children’s issues or social issues will be a plus
- Strong analytical skills, knowledge, and sound judgment
