UNFPA-Thailand Good Practices on Youth Development and Empowerment
Every Young People’s Potential is fulfilled, because everyone counts
1.BACKGROUND:
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has been working in Thailand since 1972 until now. UNFPA implementations set the positive impacts on people’s lives especially the young people. UNFPA mission on adolescents and youth is to ensure every young people’s potential is fulfilled. Accordingly the current UNFPA Thailand Country Programme gives priority on empowering young people towards engagement in rights on Sexual Reproductive Health and prevention of the teenage pregnancy.
In this connection, UNFPA identified seventeen (17) youth development projects from 15 organisations of different parts of the country and provided them the initial funds to promote youth-led initiatives on prevention of teenage pregnancy and sexual & reproductive health and rights among young people. These projects locate in ten provinces and cover young people of all groups including refugees, migrants, minority ethnic group, girls, boys, MSMs, and LGBTs. Among these projects, six projects are identified as “good practices” and “show cases” for UNFPA to promote them in public as well as mobilize resources.
There is a need for UNFPA Thailand to visualize all the effectiveness these six selected projects made to promote “ Every Young People’s Potential is fulfilled, because everyone counts ” Especially the visibilities on the engagement of young people on: a) prevention of teenage pregnancy and b) positive sexual reproductive health and rights among different groups and settings of young people. UNFPA, therefore, is looking for an external writer to capitalize visual impacts of UNFPA’s implementations on Youth Sexual Reproductive Health-Prevention and programmes on teenage pregnancy
